With the first Alpha of Ubuntu 12.04 LTS unleashed to testers worldwide, Canonical decided to change the official release schedule for the upcoming Precise Pangolin distribution and remove the Release Candidate version!

From the official Ubuntu 12.04 LTS release schedule it looks like the Release Candidate version, which was supposed to be released on April 19th, 2012, is no longer present. This is now the current release schedule for Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (Precise Pangolin):

December 1st, 2011 - Alpha 1 release
February 2nd, 2012 - Alpha 2 release
March 1st, 2012 - Beta 1 release
March 22nd, 2012 - Beta 2 release
April 26th, 2012 - Final release of Ubuntu 12.04

Looks like no other development version is affected by the removal of the Ubuntu 12.04 LTS Release Candidate, and the date for the final release of Ubuntu 12.04 LTS remains intact - April 26th, 2012.

Being an LTS release, the Ubuntu 12.04 will have at least four regular maintenance releases. The first one, Ubuntu 12.04.1, will be released in August 16th, 2012; the second one, Ubuntu 12.04.2, will be released on February 7th, 2013; the third one, Ubuntu 12.04.3, will see the light of day somewhere in mid summer 2013, and the last one, Ubuntu 12.04.4, on January 24th, 2014.

Yes, they found that it had a bug called "Unity desktop." This bug will take some time to remove.

Unity sucks badly. I don't want an iphone. I want my computer back.

Unity is o'key, it is just changing your habits. And this is the difference between windows and ubuntu. If you don't want this interface, just install another one.

Those who complain about unity or any interface shouldn't be using linux anyway. Please do us a favor, go buy a Windows PC or a Mac

You exactly right, changed to Mint. Unity, great for iphones, useless on a
desktop pc.

Not a fan of free speech or dissent, just opinions that agree with yours, Eh ? If you don't agree with those who don't like Unity thats fine, discuss the issue in a mature & rational manner but don't bore us with your childish comments.

The thing is Unity takes the idea that Mac had and 1^uped them.

If you have ever used a Mac you know the top bar doesn't fit into the screen when maximizing a application. Mac annoyingly removes everything and it does it extremely slowly with * affects. Not to mention the other countless difference and the fact it is open.

Unity is a beautiful desktop and it shows Mac users what true style is about.

I agree, i found the Unity desktop so useful that i have downloaded the latest mint version. As long it takes me twice the time to find my stuff with Unity, Ubuntu is out. Though i can understand what they like to accomplish but i don't think it will make me happy. My last upgrade to 11.04 brought me after two day's back to 10.10 and it is just fine, so i cannot see any reason why i should have another Ubuntu that renders everything slow and impractical. Has anybody put in the thought that people like me do not intend to use a search bar to find their stuff but direct open the folder where it is. And now try to find the f.....g folder with Unity or try to resize your window. With a touch screen this all might be just fine but i don't work with a telephone and do not any translation work on it. I love to put two different programs under each other and have two more a click away.
And believe me they are not the same programs so Zeitgeist just kills my patience.
