Great features. But one piece of bad news (for me): Thunderbird as default. I just can't get to like this program... Evolution is lightweight and has got everything in it (not to mention it integrates nicely with gnome/gtk), while with Thunderbird you need add-ons. And the last time I used e.g. the calendar add-on, it was slow as hell. But we'll see...

I have to agree. I hate Thunderbird and it doesn't hold a candle to Evolution. I have to use T'Bird at work and it's a real pain. I hope we're given the option to choose (not like the forced usage of Unity. Blah!).

Gnome 3 in Ubuntu 11.10?? Are you sure?

Comment #3.1 by: Marius Nestor on 23 May 2011, 12:19 GMT

Yeah, GNOME3. But its interface will be replaced with Unity. The base packages will be 3.0.x.

Comment #3.2 by: darkdawn on 24 May 2011, 06:46 GMT

As u cand see there is gnome 3.0 , and on top of that they included gnome shell, o ubuntu can use gnome 3 packages without using gnome shell.

I think they didnt use gnome 3 on 11.04 so as to concentrate on Unity, this way they make unity usable for 11.04 and in the same time leave gnome to sort out bugs till October.

I was thinking to change my OS to Linux and still confuse and surprised that Linux has those numbers of distros! I think I should started with Ubuntu as many said it is mostly simple to understand Linux through it. Let see it.

Ubuntu is a wonderful OS. it is not always that we always become successful in our implementations. the same is with UNITY desktop of ubuntu 11.04. It must be removed completey and GNOME 3 must be given complete authority for its implementation for future editions
