The DVD image of Ubuntu 11.10 was revised, it's smaller than it was in Ubuntu 11.04 and it offers all the supported language packs, as well as popular applications, like Synaptic Package Manager, The GIMP, PiTiVi or InkScape.

Ubuntu 11.10 Netboot images are designed for advanced users with special requirements. The netboot images are available for the i386, amd64, armel omap/omap4, and PowerPC (32-bit and 64-bit) architectures.

In the same news, Canonical also presented the Ubuntu Core, a new minimal rootfs that can be used in the creation of custom images for specific needs.
