Video game publisher Ubisoft says that Watch Dogs, which will soon be available to players, is the most pre-ordered new intellectual property in the history of the company and that the title has the potential to become one of the major sales successes in the industry.

The company did not offer any actual figures for how many copies of the title have already been sold, but says that the figure is a reflection of the anticipation and the excitement that the player base has for the coming experience.

Watch Dogs is also the second highest title in the overall history of Ubisoft in terms of pre-orders.

VG247 quotes Yves Guillemot, the chief executive officer of the company, as telling investors that, "We expect it to become a major heavyweight of the industry."

Watch Dogs will be offered on the PC, the PlayStation 4, the PS3, the Xbox One and the 360 on May 27.

A Wii U version will also be delivered later in the year.

The game takes place in a futuristic version of Chicago and deals with themes like surveillance and hacking, with main character Aiden able to use a variety of tools to track targets, turn the city against them and finally defeat them using tech.
