The game requires players in the world to be present

Video game publisher Ubisoft currently has an image problem with the gaming public after the huge issues linked to the launch of Assassin’s Creed Unity and the way the company tried to arrange reviews in order to make sure that gamers did not know about them before they actually bought the new title.

Its situation is unlikely to improve now that the company made a new announcement saying that they do not plan to offer reviewers the chance to play the new The Crew racing game before the official December 2 launch date.

The company says that it has made the decision because the entire game experience is designed to focus on the many interactions between fans of the genre, and that means that the experience can only be evaluated when other gamers are populating the world.

Ubisoft claims that it is not opposed to transparency and that it has proven so by introducing a number of beta stages for The Crew, which have allowed wide numbers of players to see how the title evolved and how its mechanics were improved based on the feedback offered by the community.

The company adds, “There will be absolutely no embargo on any type of coverage once the game is available for sale. While we fully anticipate that you might see some reviews immediately at launch – largely built around the preview sessions we facilitated during the past months or the limited content of the closed and open betas – they won’t be based on optimal conditions or reflect the finished game.”

The Crew is offering a wide range of experiences

Ubisoft is suggesting that reviews about The Crew should only be launched once the writer explores all the five regions, has access to both competitive and cooperative experiences, races to the end of the main campaign, and chooses a faction to work with.

The new racing game is focused on the social aspect and allows gamers to either run around with a group they have selected themselves or to simply join strangers in a variety of events.

The game simulates all of the United States and gamers can choose to move around in supercars, but also in custom-made vehicles as they explore a variety of landscapes and challenges.

The Crew will be launched on December 2 on the PC, the PlayStation 4, the Xbox One and the 360, and a new beta is starting today.

The patches for Assassin’s Creed Unity have so far failed to address all the title’s issues.
