Lots of Uplay users report their keys have been banished

It started over the weekend when lots of PC gamers have taken to Ubisoft's forums to complain about games that they have previously owned and have since been removed from their Uplay accounts without any explanation.

Far Cry 4 and Watch Dogs appear most often in customers’ complaints posted on Ubisoft forums, but some reported that Assassin's Creed Unity have been removed from their uPlay accounts as well.

Although Ubisoft has yet to issue an official statement regarding the removal of these games from some Uplay accounts, those affected seem to agree on the fact that the main reason would be the place from where they have purchased their games.

Ubisoft has suddenly decided to revoke Assassin's Creed Unity, Far Cry 4 and Watch Dogs keys that have been bought from third-party retailers like G2A, Kinguin and eBay. Other resellers might be targeted by Ubisoft as well, but these are the most common appearing in the forums.

Customers claim they will never buy another Ubisoft game in the future

Here is an excerpt from someone's post who seems to have lost ownership on Far Cry 4: “I possess both AC Unity and FC4 and let's be honest, your company ripped off players with both those games, selling products that were in no way ready for release. I think you know as well as me that if you buy a TV that is not working correctly, you give it back to the retailer and get a refund or a new one that works.” (click the button below for the full post)

As we have already mentioned, Ubisoft has yet to respond to those who have been hit by the removal of these keys, but it's highly unlikely that they will reinstate the games for all affected Uplay accounts.

We will be following this one closely and report any related news, so stay tuned if you are one of those who have lost ownership to one of the Ubisoft's games bought from third-party retailers.

UPDATE1: A community manager answered to a customer complaining that his Assassin's Creed Unity key has been revoked by saying that he should contact the third-party retailer from where he got it in the first place.

“G2A is not an official reseller of Ubisoft Codes - and as such, Ubisoft does not supply them directly - so we have no control over codes they may obtain via different methods.”

He then went on and said that given that G2A is not an authorized reseller, those with revoked keys should contact their bank or PayPal:

“As already posted - they are not an official reseller, so I can't offer you any other advice apart from speaking to them directly - they will be able to tell you why the keys are revoked. If they can't offer you a refund, I suggest you contact your bank or paypal [depending on how you paid]”
