Xbox One and PlayStation 4 owners could enjoy playing as a Templar sometime in 2015, since the game is also coming to PC

Ubisoft revealed that Assassin's Creed Rogue was going to also be released on PC sometime in "early 2015," following the action-adventure video game's release on Xbox 360 and PS3 this November.

For those curious, the publisher explained that Assassin's Creed Rogue's PC edition would be coming out later than the console versions primarily due to "production reasons."

The news that the initially PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 exclusive game would be making its way to PC means that it's not that far-fetched to speculate that it could also be ported to the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 sometime in the future, due to the similar architecture of the platforms.

"We can't talk about this right now," the publisher told IGN when asked about a prospective new-gen port.

We can't completely discount the possibility of a future port somewhere down the line, to give Xbox One and PS4 owners something to do while waiting for the next episode in the long-standing and extremely popular series, after the excitement surrounding the upcoming Assassin's Creed Unity dies down.

Seeing things from a new perspective

Assassin's Creed Rogue will enable gamers to play as a Templar for the first time, and experience things from the other side of the spectrum. Players will step into the shoes of Shay Patrick Cormack, a former assassin that turned hunter after being betrayed by his own kind.

The game is a sort of continuation of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, sharing many aspects with the previous title, including naval combat. However, Rogue will also deliver a wealth of improvements and new features, such as the ability for enemies to board your ship during combat, and new ship-based weapons.

In addition to confirming the rumor that started circulating at the end of last month, the company also teased something about a surprise waiting for gamers in the upcoming Rogue.

"All I can tell you is that we'll have a modern day part of the game, it's yours to discover in a few weeks," Ubisoft Sofia Managing Director Ivan Balabanov commented on the title's setting.

Assassin's Creed Rogue is coming out on the PS3 and Xbox 360 on November 11 in North America and November 13 in Europe and other PAL territories, with the PC edition scheduled for sometime in 2015.

Ubisoft's current-gen installment in the action-adventure series, Assassin's Creed Unity, is scheduled to come out on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4, on November 11 in North America and November 13 in Europe and other PAL territories.
