Despite the progression of the first few titles in the Assassin’s Creed series, the team working on it at Ubisoft says that it will not move forward in time because it does not want to create a fully modern-day experience.

Ashraf Ismail, game director working on Black Flag, tells the Examiner that, "we’ve never outright said that we are always moving forward. It just happened to be that way because we went from Altair to Ezio, then Ezio to Connor and there was a lot of hype about the American Revolution."

The power of the Animus allows Ubisoft to explore any element of history it is interested in and the developer suggests that Egypt might be a cool choice because it might introduce some unique environments and mechanics.

Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag will be launched on current-gen consoles on October 29 in the US and three days later in Europe and versions for other platforms will arrive in November.
