Video game publisher Ubisoft says that lifetime total sales for the Assassin’s Creed series have gone over the 73 million mark earlier this year and the company expects the franchise to become even more popular in the coming months as new projects are revealed.

On the official site, the publisher offers totals for other big series it is working on:

Just Dance - 48 million Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell - 30 million Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six - 26 million Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon - 25 million Rayman - 25 million Petz - 24 million Imagine - 21 million Prince of Persia - 20 million Driver - 19 million Far Cry - 18 million Rayman Raving Rabbids - 14 million The Settlers - 10 million The Experience - 9 million Anno - 5 million

The distance between Assassin’s Creed and second placed Splinter Cell is pretty big, which might be one of the main reasons that Ubisoft is at the moment rumored to be working on two titles in its action franchise to be launched during the coming year.

At the moment, developers are working on games that could be called Unity and Comet, the first linked to the PlayStation 4 from Sony and the Xbox One from Microsoft and the second set to appear on current-gen consoles.

Ubisoft has not offered clear details about any of them, but the company did explain that it would be foolish not to launch at least one new Assassin’s Creed title each year.

Rumors have talked about new gameplay mechanics that would include wall running and four-player coop play.

It’s unclear how the stories of the two titles will interact and whether the two titles per year concept will be maintained in 2015 and beyond.

Recent rumors are also saying that Ubisoft is getting ready to revive the Price of Persia series with a new 2D title that uses the same engine as the Rayman series.

Big coming releases for the publisher include Watch Dogs, which will arrive at the end of May after being delayed from the fall of last year, The Crew, an open world racing title, and The Division, a title that mixes classic MMO and action mechanics with a post-apocalyptic setting.

Ubisoft might also make more announcements for this fall during the coming E3 2014 event.

Rumors are suggesting that a new Far Cry title will soon be revealed and that more Tom Clancy experiences are also in development.
