Video game publisher Ubisoft has announced that it is working on a whole new music game, called Rocksmith, which is set to allow gamers to use any real life standard guitar in order to learn to play a variety of songs and improve their overall technique.

The new game will be launched during the fall of this year and is being prepared for the Xbox 360 from Microsoft and the PlayStation 3 from Sony.

The game is created with both beginner guitar players and more advanced music lovers in mind and will have a difficulty level which automatically detects the skill of the player and adapts the game.

Rhythm and lead guitar will be available for simulation and Ubisoft is also in talks with guitar companies to launch a bundle that includes a real-life instrument.

Ubisoft also says that Rocksmith will include specific mini games that are designed to allow the player to develop specific areas of his guitar playing technique.

Speaking about the upcoming game Tony Key, who is a senior vice president of marketing at Ubisoft, says that, “Guitar Hero is a party game. Rocksmith is a music experience.”

He added, “The dream of playing guitar compared to how many follow through - there's a big gap. We will create a new generation of guitar players.”

The executive says that Rocksmith will initially offer a catalog of about 45 songs, including hits from well-known performers like The Rolling Stones, David Bowie, The Animals and Nirvana.

The game will apparently also have multiplayer options, with guitar duels between two players being one of the possible features.

Recently, publisher Activision has revealed that no Guitar Hero video game will be launched during this year and Ubisoft is probably looking to exploit this space in the market.

Recently sold Harmonix has said that it will be continuing to support Rock Band 3 with new content.
