14 DAY TRIAL // The coolest transportation app has a special deal for its new drivers. If you want to become one, you will get a complimentary iPhone 4s. It doesn't really matter it is an old phone, because the device comes with just a few apps. Even some of the default apps are removed via a special profile installed on the iPhone before it is sent to the driver.
Uber was founded in 2009, and since then they have partnered tens of thousands of drivers around the world. Uber has been extended to over 100 cities. Drivers can use their own cars to get paid and they can set their own schedules.
If you are a driver and you want to start working, all you have to do is start your car engine and accept requests. Uber makes it easy to join without having a smartphone, because the company provides all the necessary gadgets needed for the job.
A video showing the complete Uber driver package went viral online. The tightly packed devices come in a black box that only Apple is capable of.
The black box has only one inscription on it – the Uber logo in thin letters on the cover and a barcode label on the side. When you open it, you will first be presented with a booklet that is the driver's guide. The booklet teaches you how to use the iPhone app. Remove the base for the guide and you discover the iPhone and some more instructions to get you started.
The label says you need to turn on your iPhone and then open the Uber app on the bottom of the screen. When you do that for the first time, you will get a chance to sign up for the service. Once you select your vehicle, you can go online and accept trips.
The iPhone 4s coming with this package looks like a brand new one, but it will not come in the regular Apple box, but just a screen shield. When you take it out of the box, you will see Uber's recommendations for 5-star drivers. They believe the perfect drivers does not take any phone calls on the road, opens the doors for passengers, uses a GPS and looks professional.
Underneath that part of the box, there is another compartment that hides a third-party dual-USB charging plug, an 3/4-inch audio jack, a USB to 30-pin connector charging cable, and a car mount for the iPhone.
The iPhone 4S comes with iOS 7 pre-installed. The phone works with your local provider and has the data connection ON.
On the Home screen, you will find only the Uber app in the dock and three more apps above it: Camera, Weather and Maps. Uber is using a profile to hide some of the apps and keep only a few of the default Apple ones. Those are kept in a folder on the second home page. Also, the Phone and Messages apps do not work. The device looks like a bigger iPod touch with a set of pre-installed apps.
