The service is now available in two other big cities

It seems that Uber is working on ways of expanding its services, as it has officially announced the launch of its own food delivery service which claims that it can bring over your order in less than 10 minutes.

The company had been experimenting with this new type of service for some time now and things seem to have worked out pretty well as they revealed that the service had been made available in four big cities: Barcelona, Los Angeles, and as of yesterday, Chicago and New York City.

Clients are given the possibility to choose from a menu put together from local restaurants that the company has teamed up with, and a Uber driver will make sure to deliver the order "within minutes." Or at least that is what the company claims, although people are having doubts that it should take that little time in a crowded city like New York, for instance.

UberEats claims that it can offer better services

Most restaurants have their own delivery systems, so people might wonder why they would choose to partner up with Uber. The thing is that the company is certain of being able to offer the same delivery services as normal companies but much faster and much cheaper.

In an interview with Re/code, Jason Droege, the executive of UberEverything, the program which handles this type of projects, talked about the delivery fee which is only $3 (€2.72). However, according to him, the best part of their system is that customers do not have to offer any tips to the driver.

The disadvantage of this service is that you have to choose from a limited menu given that they have to maintain their quick delivery promise towards the clients, but it does get updated every day, and although you might not find everything on the list, variety should not be an issue.

The guys at Mashable gave the service a try, but it was entirely different from what they were expecting. The man did make it just in time as the delivery took exactly 10 minutes, as the company promises, but the meal was brought by a man pedaling his way through the crowded streets of New York.

The service is available from the official app in a specially created segment called EATS. All you have to do is enter the address you want the food delivered to, click on View Menu, place the order, and in less than 10 minutes a driver/biker will deliver it to you.
