Uber’s co-founder, Robin Chan, has come up with a brand-new app which could prove to be a serious competitor for other e-commerce sites like Amazon or eBay.

In an article on Medium, the creator of the app revealed the reason behind his most recent idea. He claims that he intends to make people’s lives easier by putting forward a mobile system which would enable them to connect with businesses.

Robin Chan says that his product is somewhat inspired by applications like Whatsapp or Snapchat, with the only difference that Operator, which is the name of the service he invented, does not connect people with other people, but somehow manages to connect customers with retail workers who can help them make the best decisions.

This service is specially designed for people who want to make the best of their online shopping experience and use the advice coming from specialists who are there to assist them with their purchases.

Customers can communicate with businesses

Operator allows customers to interact with merchants who are participating in the project, find out more details about the products they are interested in and, of course, buy them once they are fully convinced that that is what they want.

It was also revealed that the company would have its own operators to help the customers make the best decisions and that it is currently working on gathering more and more retailers in order for customers to have a wider range of options.

Regarding the delivery of the chosen products, users will have to work it out with the stores they are buying them from, given that, at least for the time being, Operator does not handle this aspect of the users' shopping experience.

Operator’s founder described its creation as a better way for people to get what they want using different forms of communication, like sending a picture of what they would like to purchase and this way conclude a deal much faster and more effectively.
