Devs are working on a new version of the application

Those unfamiliar with Uber may not be aware of the fact that there was a Windows Phone application available for fans of the private care hire service until May 2013.

However, as WMPoweruser points out, Uber was forced to pull its own app from Windows Phone Store due to tremendous negative feedback coming from users.

Apparently the application was a mere port of their website, which is why it became unpopular quickly among Windows Phone users.

The good news is developers are still considering launching a true Uber app for Windows Phone devices and a letter received by a fan asking for the Windows Phone app confirms it.

In this letter, a Uber official says that a Windows Phone app is already in the works, though the person does not offer a release timeframe. For the full text of the letter head over to WMPoweruser.

Microsoft is trying convince developers to create more apps for its Windows Phone ecosystem, but since the mobile platform never reached 5% worldwide market share, devs prefer to avoid Windows Phone for the moment.

Uber is just one of the many companies that has yet to launch a Windows Phone application, but already has apps for Android and iOS platforms. All in all, let's hope Uber will arrive on Windows Phone sooner rather than later.
