A recent update made in USPS's online store caused an error which resulted in the fact that customers could see each other's sensitive information.

According to DataBreaches, customers noticed that when they logged in to their accounts they were faced with names, addresses and partial credit card numbers belonging to other customers.

After an inquiry, it was revealed that a code issue caused the unfortunate incident which may have exposed some of their clients.

“The U.S. Postal Service and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service are conducting an investigation into a systems failure on why this happened. Postal Service computer technicians are working around-the-clock to minimize any impact this incident may have caused our customers,” read a statement from USPS.

The issue was fixed and a number of 5,400 account holders were notified and alerted on the situation.

“The privacy and security of this data is of critical importance to the Postal Service. We apologize for any inconvenience this situation may have caused our customers.”
