There are certain technologies that allow a host system to wirelessly transmit video feeds, or any data feeds, to a display. Such technologies aren't always available though, which means that third-party devices have to be used as a way to bridge the gap as it were.

StarTech has just released a product that can bridge the gap between a laptop and an HDTV, a product called ST121WHDST.

ST121WHDST is an HDMI Wireless Video Extender Kit, which lets you play, on an HDTV, videos stored on a laptop.

The range is of 15 meters / 50 feet and the whole thing is easy to set up. Just plug the unit into a USB port (to power it) and you're all set. No software required.

Normally, video extenders like this one have to be plugged in a wall power socket, but the new StarTech one is truly as portable as laptops and Ultrabooks themselves.

Sales of the StarTech ST121WHDST HDMI Wireless Video Extender Kit are underway for the price of £327.66 / $552.73 / €400. The box includes the main unit (looks a lot like an external HDD standing upright) and the transmitted itself. Both of them are colored black, since that's the safest, most universally-accepted color (non-color really, fits into any room theme).
