That's one normal connector and one micro-USB port, for smartphone use

USB On-the-Go is a technology that allows flash drives to work on smartphones and tablets like they would on a PC, by recognizing them as the host system. Kingmax has just released a set of such storage devices.

They are called PJ-02 dual-interface flash drive and PJ-03 dual-interface card reader. Both of them have a standard USB connector as well as a micro-USB port.

The press release didn't mention whether it was USB 2.0 or 3.0 technology we are looking at, but fortunately the product pages have a bit more info than that.

As we'd feared, USB 2.0 tech is used, so no 5 Gbps transfers here. A shame really. Then again, USB OTG drives usually stay away from USB 3.0, because micro-USB 3.0 ports are rare.

Both the PJ-02 and the PJ-03 are small and light, colored black, yellow, and pink.

Alas, the storage maker did not say whether or not the Kingmax PJ-02 and PJ-01 would sell right away or for what prices, so you will have to keep an eye out or visit your local retailer one of these days, though you're probably better off waiting for an update on their site.

Capacities go all the way up to 32 GB for the PJ-02, while the latter can handle memory cards of 4 GB to 32 GB.
