The USB Implementers Forum is, as one would expect, always eager to show off its latest achievements, so it is no surprise to hear that many of its members are getting ready to put on a show at CeBIT, 2011.

CeBIT, like CES (Consumer Electronics Show) can be seen as one of the major IT product expos that are held on a yearly basis.

The show has companies from all over the world coming and setting up various exhibitions, so as to demonstrate their best, newest and/or upcoming devices.

The show is to take place in Hannover, Germany, between 1 and 5 March, the daily show hours being from 9 a.m. To 6 p.m.

Various companies will be attending, such as Agilent technologies, Inc., Elka International Ltd., Jungo, LaCroy Corporation, SMSC, System Level Solutions Inc., Texas Instruments, Total Phase and Main Super Enterprises Co., Ltd.

“The USB-IF will be joined by nine exhibiting USB-IF member companies demonstrating the latest SuperSpeed USB products and innovations,” says the press release.

Given that, at present, USB 3.0 SuperSpeed is the fastest universal Serial bus standard in existence, one can safely assume that the USB-IF collection will be packed with devices supporting it.

Among other things, one can be sure to spot flash drives, portable solid state drives, external hard disk drives or pretty much any other computing hardware or system built with the standard.

Furthermore, depending on how fast USB-IF has been and is working, there is also the slight possibility that some data on the next USB standard will be released, or at least vague estimates of one may expect from the SuperSpeed's successor.

Given that USB 3.0 already has a theoretical maximum throughput of 5 Gbps, whatever USB 4.0 ends up as will likely be wall-shattering, so to speak. Of course, it will probably take years for it to be finalized, so one shouldn't look forward to it too much, not yet at least.
