A new series of USB graphics adapters (UGA) will be offered to the mass-market retail consumers by DisplayLink and EVGA, two companies that
announced yesterday their partnership on this project. DisplayLink network display technology has been used to power EVGA’s new UV Plus+ Family of UGAs, a new series of USB graphics adapters that includes the UV12 and UV16 UGAs. These products allow Windows XP and Vista users to expand their visual computing environment quick and easy by connecting multiple displays to their desktop or notebook using the simple USB connections.

As a market leader, EVGA has always provided high-performance graphics solutions for PC gamers and systems integrators. UV12 and UV16 USB graphics adapters allow users to add additional monitors to their computer, offering an easy, low cost solution for those who need to expand their visual computing environment to cover a large variety of applications.

"DisplayLink technology enables us to deliver a UGA that is affordable, portable, and easy to use, which dovetails perfectly with EVGA’s strategy of penetrating broader consumer markets," said Joe Darwin, director of marketing for EVGA. "At the same time, we hope that the EVGA UV12 and UV16 will help bring DisplayLink’s exciting USB display technology to a wider mainstream audience."

"EVGA’s retail marketing muscle can help us achieve our goal of putting DisplayLink technology into the hands of any consumer who wants quick, easy access to multiple monitors," said Dennis Crespo, DisplayLink executive vice president of marketing and business development. "Their experience and presence in the retail and distribution channels make EVGA a valuable customer and partner for DisplayLink."

DisplayLink’s unique hardware and software technology enables UGA to make the simple connection between a USB port and a monitor. Additional displays can be easily added to any desktop computer or notebook through a small device that can be carried out wherever needed in a briefcase or even a pocket. It can be used for connections to projectors, docking stations or desktop displays. With a sub-$100 retail price, compact design, and versatile applications, UGAs present themselves as the low-cost, easy-to-use multiple displays solution any enthusiastic wishes for.

UV12 supports up to 1280 x 1024 (1440 x 900 widescreen) display resolutions, while UV16 supports up to 1600 x 1200 (1680 x 1050 widescreen) resolutions. With the use of multiple UGAs, users are enabled to connect up to four displays to a single PC. Both adapters will have an expected price of less than $100. The UGAs are already available through EVGA’s network of leading E-tailers, retailers, systems integrators and distributors.
