For the many desktop PCs that don't have something of the sort

Memory card readers are a common sight on notebook spec sheets, but things are different on the desktop market, since normal motherboards don't have integrated card readers of their own.

That is a good thing for peripheral and PC accessory makers though. In fact, Apacer is building on the chance provided by this state of affairs.

Long story short, the company has created a USB 3.0-connected card reader called AM230 and compatible with SDHC UHS-I, SDXC UHS-I, microSDHC UHS-I and microSDXC UHS-I formats.

To plug the AM230 in a USB 3.0 port, one only needs to push the yellow section in until the connector is fully extended.

Owners of DSLR and micro SLR cameras might find a lot of use for the Apacer AM230. We have no pricing or availability info though.
