Over the last few weeks, both the United States and China have made numerous accusations regarding cyber espionage operations.

As expected, cybersecurity has been a topic of discussion during the annual Strategic and Economic Dialogue in which several representatives of both countries have taken part.

On Wednesday, China Daily reported that US officials were confident that some progress was made at the first meeting of the China-US cyber security working group.

“We had a constructive discussion with our Chinese counterparts, including norms of behavior in cyberspace. Both sides made practical proposals to increase our cooperation and build understanding and transparency between the two sides,” said Chris Painter, US State Department coordinator for cyber issues.

On the other hand, US Vice President Joe Biden took the opportunity to once again tell China that it must put an end to the cyber theft of US intellectual property, Voice of America informs.

Biden has highlighted that both countries will benefit from an open, secure and reliable Internet.
