HP is always working on some new device or another, but it also makes a point of ensuring that those items it already has on sale become as widespread as possible. As such, it is not surprising to hear that one of its mobile PCs has become available in other areas besides Europe. Known as the Mini 5103, the netbook was unleashed upon Italian shores last week and, now, it has finally arrived in the US as well. Basically, this machine is a business-class entry-level computer based on Intel Atom.

The Mini 5103, like most netbooks that run rampant on the market at the present time, is powered by the Pine Trail platform. The Intel Atom N455 central processing unit (1.66 GHz) lies at the heart of the configuration, unless users go for the more powerful N475, whose clock is set at 1.83 GHz. Whichever chip is selected is backed up by up to 2GB of RAM.

The 10.1-inch LED-backlit display is under the jurisdiction of the GMA (Graphics Media Accelerator) 3150 integrated graphics. Also, for storage, the company threw in a hard disk drive with up to 320 GB capacity and a platter rotary speed of 7,200 RPM (rotations per minute). Granted, those seeking better speeds instead of capacity may elect a solid state drive of up to 128 GB instead. As for connectivity and I/O options, HP provided Bluetooth 2.1, Gigabit Ethernet, 802/11 b/g/n WiFi, optional mobile broadband and a 4-cell or 6-cell battery.

It should probably be noted that the electronic actually features a 95% full-sized spill-resistant keyboard, for ease of use, and a Broadcom Crystal HD Flash accelerator, which significantly enhances the multimedia support of the product. Needless to say, the netbook has already been listed on its maker's official website. The product page can be found here, and orders may be placed for a starting price of $399.
