A new report shared with the public by nonprofit group the Solar Foundation, the solar industry up and running in the United States currently employs more American veterans than other industries operating in the country do.

More precisely, the Foundation claims that, as shown by recent figures, American veterans currently account for roughly 9.2% of the overall number of workers employed by the Unites States' solar industry.

By comparison, former soldiers make up just 7.6% of all workers in the country, Think Progress says.

In its report, the Solar Foundation further details that, only a few years ago, the solar industry employed significantly fewer veterans than it currently does.

Thus, the number of former soldiers who hold a job in this industrial branch is said to have increased by about 20% from 2012 to 2013, and by 53% from 2010 to 2013.

This is probably because, as the country's military is taking steps towards upping its dependence on renewables, soldiers are becoming more informed with respect to environmentally friendly technologies.

Of the total number of veterans employed by the solar industry, 39% deal with installation and maintenance, 27% are involved in manufacturing, 14% work in sales and distribution, and 6% are in charge of project development.
