Hackers working for the Iranian government have breached into unclassified computer networks of the United States Navy, US officials say.

According to The Wall Street Journal, the attack has been taken seriously by the Pentagon. On the other hand, officials have noted that there’s no evidence to suggest that valuable information has been stolen by the attackers.

Congress, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Martin Dempsey, and Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel have been briefed on the cyberattack.

WSJ reports that Iranian officials have refused to comment on the allegations.

This is not the first time when Iran is blamed for cyberattacks against US systems. The country is believed to be behind operations that targeted US banks and the energy sector.

This latest series of accusations comes amid the negotiations between the two countries regarding Iran’s nuclear program.
