The suspension of the US government's budget is not without consequence

As some may know, the US is in government shutdown, or at least partial shutdown. It's doubly worrisome because the budget deadline has passed. All because Congress can't agree on Obamacare.

Naturally, the people from the United States haven't been taking this quietly or in good spirits.

Alas, now the consequences of the budget delay are making themselves felt in other countries too.

Procurement of rugged PCs is one field where things are losing balance, with sales performance for the fourth quarter of 2013 expected to suffer.

Japan-based Panasonic holds 60% of the worldwide market for ruggedized PCs, followed by Taiwan-based Getac and US-based General Dynamics Itronix (12% each, more or less).

Nevertheless, much of the revenue comes from the US. Getac, for example, gets 40% of its rugged PC revenue from North America and 20% from Europe. We'll have to wait and see how everyone else does.
