Congressman Aaron Schock shows off his abs to motivate Americans to be more active

At just 29 years of age, US representative Aaron Schock of Illinois is the youngest Congressman ever. Also at 29, he happens to have the body of a god, so there’s no wonder he’s using it to draw attention to the importance of working out.

As part of the campaign Fit for Life Summer Challenge, Schock is unbuttoning his shirt and flexing his muscle for the famous fitness magazine Men’s Health.

The aim of the Challenge is, as noted above, to draw attention to the importance of working out and, most importantly, to get kids to be more active so as to counter child obesity in the US.

The goal is the same as with the campaign fronted by First Lady Michelle Obama, Aaron tells the magazine. The only obvious difference is that six-pack, one may add.

“I think Michelle Obama is on the right track with her Let’s Move campaign to bring down childhood obesity… She and I come from the same state, Illinois, which is number four in the nation for obese children. One out of five Illinois children are considered obese,” Schock says.

He works out two hours a day every day, so, come to think of it, he’s better than most people when it comes to dishing out advice.

In his own case, he says his work could get in the way of his exercise routine – but he doesn’t let that happen.

“It’s got to happen early or it’s not going to happen,” Schock explains.

It was in college that he found what he calls his fitness “calling.”

“In college I could feel my body changing, and I knew that if I didn’t make some changes, I was going to go in the wrong direction,” he explains.

This is why he can now pose for Men’s Health and front an entire campaign meant to motivate people from all over the US to lead more active lives.
