The first CDMA carrier to have it

Wireless carrier US Cellular is reportedly gearing up to add to its offering a nice-looking Windows Mobile-based handset, the HTC Touch Pro2. The best part about the deal, however, seems to be the fact that it will have the phone running under the latest flavor of Microsoft's mobile operating system, namely Windows Mobile 6.5, and that the HTC Sense solution will also be present with the device.

Said launch and the features of the handset are showed in an image that the guys over at WMExperts found on the carrier's website, and which indeed shows the HTC Touch Pro2 running under the Windows Mobile 6.5, with HTC’s highly praised Sense solution thrown all over it. In case the carrier will indeed launch the handset packed this way, it will become the CDMA carrier in the United States to deliver to its users all three components in the same mixture.

As many of you might already know, the CDMA HTC Touch Pro2 is already available for purchase in the US via Sprint and Verizon (the latter has it out of stock), yet it runs under Microsoft's Windows Mobile 6.1 operating system and with HTC's TouchFLO UI on it. However, AT&T has the device with Windows Mobile 6.5 on board, re-branded as the HTC Tilt2. The phone is available with WM 6.1 via T-Mobile too, yet none of the carriers that have it this way announced plans to deliver the Windows Mobile 6.5 update for it.

On the other hand, the appearance of US Cellular's variant might also suggest that upgrades for the other versions are also on their way, and that it shouldn't be too long before they will emerge. Even so, US Cellular’s HTC Touch Pro2 could soon become the first Windows Mobile-powered phone from HTC to sport Sense, in case it will be launched before the HTC HD2 arrives to the US market. Watch this space for updates on how things will evolve.
