The new Pantech Verse slider has just made its way on US Cellular’s airwaves. The handset is aimed at text messaging enthusiasts and comes with a full QWERTY keyboard.

Customers can purchase the slider for as low as $29.99 USD (25 EUR) with a new two-year agreement and after a $50 USD (40 EUR) mail-in rebate. Those who do not want to commit to a long-term contract can grab the Pantech Verse for $69.99 (55 EUR) upfront.

Dubbed “the ultimate on-the-go companion,” Pantech Verse features a vertical slide-out QWERTY keyboard, allowing users to compose quick messages and send off notes quicker and more accurate.

In addition, the mobile phone sports a decent 2.24-inch QVGA color display, as well as a mediocre 2-megapixel rear photo snapper. Pantech Verse embeds only 128 MB of internal memory, but users will be able to expand storage up to 32GB via microSD card.

There are several features and services loaded onto the Pantech Verse, such as Voice Recognition, Music Player, WAP Browser, easyedge catalog, Speakerphone and Stereo Bluetooth.

Furthermore, Pantech Verse comes with a slew of pre-installed apps and games, including Pac-Man, Tone Room Deluxe, CityID, My Contacts Backup, Accuweather.com Premium, mSpot, Radio, Daily Perks, Do Not Disturb and Social Scene.

Pantech Verse is powered by a 950 mAh Li-Ion battery, which is rated by the manufacturer for up to 15 days of standby time or up to 4.8 hours of talk time. Obviously, these times may vary depending on user settings, feature user and network configurations.

With the introduction of the Pantech Verse, PCD continues its long tradition of bringing to market devices that meet the needs of a variety of end users. The Verse, from Pantech, is a superior messaging device. The full QWERTY keyboard makes texting and updating social networks a breeze. Plus, the built in music player and external speaker are perfect for music lovers,” said Joe Cufari, chief marketing officer for PCD.
