The United States Army Cyber Command (ARCYBER) has moved its headquarters to Fort Gordon in Georgia. The army says that the decision is based on both operational and cost-related reasons.

Up until now, ARCYBER has been located in various buildings, including ones owned by the government and leased spaces.

Compared to other options that the Army had for the Cyber Command HQ, Fort Gordon ensures costs that are lower by 23%, fewer personnel by 150, and reduced construction requirements.

The move to Fort Gordon also places the Army’s operational cyber headquarters close to other cyber mission forces, including the Joint Forces Headquarters-Cyber and NSA-Georgia.

“Cyber threats are real, sophisticated, growing, and evolving. The Army's decision demonstrates support for unity of command and the importance of cyber to our Army and our nation,” noted ARCYBER's commanding general, Lt. Gen. Edward C. Cardon.
