Discounts not that exciting

As expected, Apple's online store is down as the company is getting ready to list new prices for the special, one-day Apple shopping event this Friday, November 28 (today). In the meanwhile, Australia's residents are the first to get a glimpse at the discounts, which, unfortunately, aren't all that big.

Still, considering that Apple almost never exercises such practices, everyone interested in acquiring an Apple product should consider doing it sooner, rather than later. So, while we wait for the rest of the world's online Apple stores to go up, prices down under look a bit like this.

Apple's 13-inch unibody MacBook is topping the list of discounts. One unit goes for A$1,938.00 today – a A$161 discount on Apple's best-selling laptop. Following in its footsteps, the 20-inch, 2.4GHz aluminum iMac saves Aussie buyers A$61.00, as it is now going for A$1,538.00. The high-specced SKU (24-inch: 3.06GHz) now costs A$2,868.00, saving customers 131 bucks.

With discounts available on most Apple products, the iPod line is also featuring special prices. An 8GB fourth-gen nano now goes for A$188.00, saving you A$11, while the 8GB iPod touch goes for A$308 – A$21 off the original price.

Accessories are also discounted, while the free laser engraving for all new iPod models is still a go. Customers can save A$9.99 on either the Nike + iPod Sport Kit or the iPod nano Armband, which now go for A$38.01 each.

US residents shouldn't expect any differences between their price listings and the rest of the world, so this is pretty much what everyone else will be getting as well. Nevertheless, we'll be posting a report the minute Apple's US Online Store is back up. We'll do our best to hand-pick the most noteworthy discounts.
