As more gruesome images of the abuses in the American Middle-East prisons are released, the tensions between the Muslim world and the West seem to ignite.
After the Abu Ghraib scandal broke out in April 2004, today more images of brutal conduct of the American soldiers were broadcast on the Australian television, SBS.
The American magazine Salon obtained the report of the U.S. army's investigation about what happened inside the jail. The full
photographic data of the abuses obtained by Salon puts another burden on Washington's back, criticized for the inhumane treatment applied to the prisoners held in Guantanamo.
The U.N. Human Rights Commission recently presented its report on the Guantanamo tortures and humiliations, which violate international law; Kofi Annan urged the United States to shut down the detention facility as soon as possible. The Red Cross also stated that the abuse images accuse the U.S. of violating the international humanitarian law.
This new abuse report includes over 1,000 photographs and about 100 videos of abuses at Abu Ghraib, about 500 images of dead Iraqi detainees, around 600 pornographic representations and 29 pictures of American troops simulating sexual acts.
According to Salon, "the DVD also includes photographs of guards threatening Iraqi prisoners with dogs, homemade videotapes depicting hooded prisoners being forced to masturbate, and a video showing a mentally disturbed prisoner smashing his head against a door. Oddly, the material also includes numerous photographs of slaughtered animals and mundane images of soldiers traveling around Iraq."
