Earlier today, after a long week of unexplainable behavior, fallen pop star Britney Spears checked herself into a rehabilitation center, where she will remain for at least 45 days, the minimum period for treatment there. As soon as the rumor of her visit got out, Brit Brit's manager confirmed to 'People' that it was indeed true.

'Britney Spears has voluntarily checked herself into an undisclosed rehab facility today. We ask that the media respect her privacy as well as those of her family and friends at this time', Larry Rudolph's statement read. Even if he refused to say where or which was the facility of the star's choice, that does not mean that the secret could be kept for too long, as the paparazzi have already spotted Britney at the Promises clinic in Malibu.

Yesterday, various media outlets informed the singer's prior visit to the Bahamian rehab she checked into last week was mainly due to her mother's insistences. Apparently, Lynn had found her daughter sprawled on the floor of her hotel room, dead drunk and unresponsive. After she brought her back to reality, Lynn threatened her to take her two sons away, packed her bags and boarded her on the plane to Eric Clapton's private rehab center.

24 hours later, in an act of absolute rebellion, Brit was back home in L.A, shaving her head and getting new tattoos to spite her mother. She was later spotted clubbing in an ill-fitting blonde wig and, witnesses say, drinking whiskey and Coke. The 'Daily Mail' ran another story of a Britney sighting, this time at the Mondrian hotel, where she desperately tried to book a room and rent a car without having money or a credit card on her.

A source told the tabloid that she was wearing a blue wig and that she was so drunk that she could barely stand on her two feet and crying all the time and sobbing that 'Nobody wants me anymore'. A couple of tourists took her to their room and then to the hotel's gift shop, from where she purchased several bathing suits. After she changed into one of them, Britney headed to the pool, where she displayed signs that she wanted to shave her legs right there, in front of everybody. Eventually, one of her bodyguards picked her up and took her home.

TMZ reports that several choppers filled with paparazzi have already taken off to Malibu. The doors to the helicopters have been taken out to enable them to shoot air photos, eventually with the pop start on the premises. It is expected that she will complete the minimum 45-day program, which reportedly costs $33,000 per month. That's a small price to pay for one's sanity and health...
