Microsoft has indeed presented the second-generation Surface tablet and is now allowing consumers to pre-order the device, but shipments aren’t actually supposed to begin until October 22.

A British retailer, however, decided to break Microsoft’s embargo and start setting the Surface 2 earlier, with The Verge reporting that it has been able to purchase a 32 GB unit from a local store.

While Argos wasn’t selling Touch and Type Covers, 32 and 64 GB models of the second-generation Surface RT tablet have been published on the official page of the company and delivered to buyers through its retail network.

After making the news, Argos has reportedly stopped selling the Surface 2 and issued the following statement:

“We fully comply with embargos issued by our suppliers and have withdrawn the Microsoft Surface 2 from sale with immediate effect. We are working with Microsoft to investigate this error as a matter of urgency.”
