It appears that this holiday season tablets represent the ultimate gift. Retailers have picked up the trend and are expecting to see their businesses boom, with tablets being a big part of the success.

British electronic giant Currys & PC World has already made public its estimates for tablet sales covering the hectic month of December.

The retailer predicts it will end up shipping as much as one million tablets with the new iPad Air and Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 being the most popular products and driving the sale frenzy.

The predictions were posted before the kick start of the so-called “Big Christmas Event” which covers Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

“Our warehouse, staff and drivers will all be working together to make sure customers service is fantastic over this busy period."

"Technology has become a wish-list favorite for 2013, and we’re expecting this to be especially evident over the busy festive season,” boasted Ben Lovett, spokesperson for Currys & PC World.

According to the report, 40% of Currys & PC World website traffic comes from a tablet or another mobile device, meaning a lot of customers prefer shopping from the comfort of their own home, instead of venturing out into the busy brick and mortar stores.
