Microsoft has apparently managed to score yet another important win, as the Hertfordshire Constabulary police has decided to install tablets running Windows 8 in police cars.

WinBeta is reporting that several Vauxhall Astra police cars will get touchscreen Panasonic Toughpad FZ-G1 in the coming weeks as part of a trial supposed to help the authorities determine whether the same device should be deployed in the entire fleet or not.

In addition to new Windows 8 tablets, patrol cars will also be upgraded with 8.4-inch touchscreen monitors developed by KME and 4G connectivity to access web-based systems on the go.

Microsoft hasn’t yet issued a statement on this, but it’s pretty clear that Redmond can only be pleased with this announcement, as the company still struggles to make Windows 8 a widely adopted operating system all over the world.
