Police in the UK have caught a robber using detectable spray hitting the thief. The spray was fitted to the vehicle that the man broke into.

28-year-old Yafet Askale never realized what hit him when he got inside the car. The spray is “invisible” to the naked eye but it can be detected when under ultraviolet light.

The system employed by the owner of the vehicle is named SmartWater, and it has been provided by Brent Police.

Askale had gotten away with a laptop and several other items from the vehicle. He has been arrested and the spray evidence has brought on a robbery conviction.

He now has to repay £400 ($645 / €475) and serve 49 hours of community service, ITV reports.
