News from the United Kingdom says that the country has recently set in place its largest solar photovoltaic installation yet.

Thus, Mark Group Limited, a leading energy saving expert, has successfully fitted the rooftop of Wolseley UK's National Distribution Center with as many as 8,000 solar panels.

Information shared with the public says that the solar panels, together with their accompanying inverters, cover an area of roughly 13,113 square meters (about 141,147 square feet).

According to Click Green, this massive solar photovoltaic installation is expected to have a yearly clean energy output that would suffice to meet the overall demand of some 450 households.

Thus, the system should roll out enough green power to provide for the energy demand of Wolseley UK’s National Distribution Center, and also cough out a 10% surplus.

Apart from providing a steady flow of clean energy, the installation should deliver carbon emission savings amounting to 1,280 tonnes per year.

“Wolseley’s investment in this installation should be completely repaid in around 7 years, which means the NDC will receive free energy thereafter,” Chris Roberts with Mark Group said in a statement.

“Wolseley UK will also achieve carbon savings of around 1280 tonnes per year, helping to improve the Leamington Spa site’s environmental performance, which is already rated by BREEAM as ‘very good,’” he added.
