Some get lucky! One of the best examples of this kind is the full 3G network that will be available in Britain by the end of the year 2008. Thanks to the 3G network, users will be able to access a variety of multimedia applications.

This action was possible after two of Britain's biggest mobile phone operators, T-Mobile and 3, had announced the making of a team in which they would share the "Third Generation" network.

The move was made after both companies had come to the conclusion that this would save an estimated ?2 billion in the next 10 years. Also, the deal would bring to a reduction of 5,000 mobile phone masts across Britain.

"3G is a transforming technology, but this will be the first time that a 3G access network in this country is able to achieve both the reach and the capacity to meet the needs of the future. From 2008, customers can expect to have access to high-speed 3G services in a greater number of locations than we can currently serve over our existing infrastructure. By collaborating with 3 UK, we can achieve this quicker and with greater economy", said T-Mobile UK chief executive, Jim Hyde.

But, that's about the sharing part. The 2G network will be kept by T-Mobile, even if both companies will have to take the responsibility for the services delivered to their users.

"The move will accelerate the adoption of new services in a timescale that the two companies could not have achieved on their own. It also enables us to cost effectively meet customer demand for faster speeds, wider coverage and greater capacity that is starting to arise as mobile devices become the most cost-effective and convenient route to access the Internet", added Kevin Russell, chief executive of 3 UK.

The contract that the party made will end in the year 2013, if everything goes well. Until then, we can wait and see what happens.
