Last week was the StarCraft II week

The ELSPA has released the charts detailing the all-formats sales data from last week in the United Kingdom. StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty entered on the first place, not much of a surprise given the huge day one purchases that were recently reported. Toy Story 3 managed to fall just one spot to number two, with Buzz and Woody not being strong enough to take-on the onslaught of the Zerg, Protoss and Terrans. Red Dead Redemption, not the second best-selling title of the year, placed third.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is back in the top after a brief setback, climbing up three places to number eight. Bobby Kotick must be very happy seeing that the latest title from his publishing outfit is number one across the world, while the aformentioned nine-month old first person shooter, also distributed by Activision, is still selling incredibly well, surpassing more recent releases like Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11. EA Sport's golf game is still struggling with an uneven sale performance, falling six places to number eleven, after last week's rise to number five.

While not a successful as Modern Warfare 2, Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is something that Electronic Arts can be proud of. The title is still selling a lot copies, managing to move up to number ten last week. The 12th and 13th place are a kind of an internal dispute in EA Sports, with FIFA 10 overtaking 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa. Nintendo's highly successful Super Mario Galaxy 2 has finally started to go down, falling to number nine.

The most spectacular decline of last week can be attributed to Crackdown 2. After leading for no less than two weeks, Microsoft's latest Xbox 360 exclusive is now well on it way to exit the top 20, landing on number 18. This week will probably see StarCraft II retain its first place, as its release has scared a lot of publishers away, with no new interesting games coming to retail in the next seven days.
