UK Charts Place Spider-Man 3 on Top

- OK, but how does Cooking Mama: Cook Off make #5, before FIFA and Final Fantasy DS?

By: Filip Truta, Games Editor

The all-formats #1 title for Activision in UK (according to UK charts of course) is Spider-Man 3. As NextGeneration reports, the PS3 version accounts for 19% of the title’s overall sales, while the PS2 version accounts for an amazing 49%. Talk about who's the winner of the last generation, huh?

Here's the top ten as posted on the same site (Chart Track's compilation):

1. Spider-Man 3 (Activision)
2. Command & Conquer: Tiberium Wars (EA)
3. Pro Evolution Soccer 6 (Konami)
4. Wii Play (Nintendo)
5. Cooking Mama (505 Games)
6. Tiger Woods: PGA Tour 07 (EA)
7. FIFA 07 (EA)
8. Crackdown (Microsoft)
9. Brain Training (Nintendo)
10. Final Fantasy III (Square Enix)

Wonder why Crackdown suddenly made the charts and #8 at that? It's only because of Halo 3 and the Beta, which is "very" accessible through Crackdown, after Bungie fixed the existing problems tied to the Beta download.

I'm not going to say anything about Spider-Man 3, except that it got up there mighty fast, although it's a poor excuse for a next-gen implementation of the series. But then again, it's the character's popularity that got it up there, but other than a great swing time through buildings, I couldn't see anything ravishingly impressive about the game.

I have to say though, Cooking Mama: Cook Off is strangely placed up on number 5 and I can't come up with a reason for this whatsoever. I'm sure the game is fun and all, but how good of a game could this Cooking Mama be if FIFA is two places under it? And don't even get me started on Final Fantasy III for the DS. That Wiimote must be doing wonders for it if Wario Ware: Smooth Moves didn't even make it to #10.

Oh well, guess I'll have to try it and see for myself. Mama's gonna be so proud...
