As orders pile up, per-unit tags slide down bit by bit

Not long ago, we mentioned that UHD TV makers had begun to cut prices, and that the high-end TVs would get cheaper and cheaper as the end of the year neared.

Now we can follow up on that report with another one, about Taiwan-based panel makers and the rising orders they have been getting from China-based TV vendors.

Long story short, the higher demand has led to further decrease in prices for the panels used in UHD TV development.

Currently, panel producers are selling the screens for 30% more than the price of Full HD ones.

The decrease in chip and transmission interface costs are gnawing at the price premium though.

How long the declining price trend lasts will determine if Ultra HD TVs really reach 3-4 million shipments by the end of 2013.
