We reported earlier that authorities apprehended a number of individuals suspected of trafficking credit card information and among them we found Mir Islam, also known on the hacking scene as JoshTheGod, the leader of the UGNazi collective.

Authorities arrested him after he met up with an undercover FBI agent that posed as a “fellow carder.” Instead of receiving counterfeit credit cards, the hacker got a pair of shiny handcuffs.

The FBI also seized ugnazi.com and the carders.org carding forum, believed to be founded by Islam.

A while ago, we detailed the feud that was going on between UGNazi and The Jester (th3j35t3r), which started when the hackers launched a distributed denial-of-service (DDOS) attack on the site of the Wounded Warrior Project.

At the time, The Jester published an empty blog post and promised that by the end of June the hacker collective would meet its end.

It’s uncertain if he had any involvement in the FBI’s operation, but it seems that some of the clues he has given in the past month regarding the identity of JoshTheGod could be accurate.

On June 7 and June 10, The Jester posted tweets that stated that the leader of UGNazi was involved in credit card fraud.

“Lots has gone on since then, but the next crucial thing to notice is that my main target – ‘the leader’ AKA @joshthegod suddenly after having the biggest ego on the internet – went MIA – as of right now he is 6 days into his silence. This is no coincidence,” The Jester wrote on his blog.

“Teaser: If I was a gambling man I might hazard a wager on the ‘CarderProfit Forum’ being a honeypot/sting that *someone* setup. Just a wild stab in the dark you understand,” he added.

The Jester highlights that Mir Islam turned 18 a few days ago and that he can be prosecuted as an adult.
