The homophobic comments on Instagram were posted by hackers

On Tuesday, the fans of Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) fighter Jon “Bones” Jones were shocked to see that he was posting homophobic comments on Instagram. Jones claims his accounts were hacked.

Jon Jones posted a message on Twitter on Wednesday to clarify the situation. However, not everyone bought the “I’ve been hacked story.” That’s probably because a lot of celebrities have been using this excuse lately to cover for the messages which they later come to regret.

According to Rant Sports, UFC President Data White has confirmed that Jones’ accounts have been hacked and he even appears to know some details.

“He got hacked. Originally when I found out he was being hacked, I was like, ‘What, are we all going to say stupid stuff and then say we got hacked?’,” Dana White said.

“But if you look at his timeline, first of all he rarely posts anything or responds with comments on Instagram – and he got hacked. [The hackers] got in there and they changed his password. Like 11 people had his password that surround him and we got that squashed and taken care of yesterday.”

It’s not uncommon for celebrities’ social media account to be hijacked either by trolls or spammers. It seems that many famous people still don’t know that they shouldn’t click on suspicious links.
