THQ might no longer exist as a video game publisher, but the company can still launch legal battles and is currently suing Electronic Arts over the license to create titles based on the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

EA picked up the intellectual property when THQ went bankrupt from Zuffa, the company that owns the brand.

Gamasutra quotes information from the United States District Court for Delaware in which THQ says that initially, Electronic Arts tried to pick up UFC directly from it and then went behind its back.

The transfer of the license was apparently fraudulent under the California bankruptcy law.

THQ wants to get the license for UFC back and claim all profits that Electronic Arts might derive from it.

EA Sports UFC is set to be launched on the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 in May 2014, powered by the all-new Ignite engine and with a deep commitment to realism.
