It's all over for the British Internet users who used to watch all the UEFA Champions League matches online.
Just a few days before the great Barcelona - Arsenal clash in the CL final, Internet users from Great Britain will have to find other solutions to see the match. That`s because the UEFA Champions League Company won the court appeal made towards the owners and operators of web sites that were broadcasting CL matches on the Internet.
"This is a landmark decision in favor of UEFA and of rights holders everywhere. We see this as a major victory against the unauthorized and illegal streaming of UEFA Champions League matches over the internet, and therefore a full endorsement for the protection of the rights of the official broadcasters who have purchased the right to show these matches", said UEFA CEO Olsson.
The decision made by the United Kingdom High Court provided the UEFA Company with other benefits. So, besides prohibiting the right to broadcast Champions League on the Internet, the defendants will have to pay up all the collateral financial damages. The Court also decided that all the equipment used by them would have to be confiscated. They will also have to return all the money raised by using UEFA Champions League logos, UCL Starball, sponsored video sequences or the UCL on-screen graphics.
