UC Mobile, the team behind the popular UC Browser, has just announced the availability of the 7.6 version of the application

It took the developers three months to launch the latest version of the UC Browser, which is supposed to be more elegant with powerful functions and smaller in size.

The browser runs on a wide range of platforms such as Symbian, Android, Java, Windows Mobile, MTK, iPhone and Brew and is compatible with more than 100 phone brands and about 2,000 models.

Unlike previous versions, UC Browser 7.6 focuses more on speed and page rendering. The UC Mobile team has optimized the UC Server to bring a 30% browsing speed improvement when using pre-fetch technology.

Although the application offered WAP 2.0 support in previous versions as well, UC Browser 7.6 features float support which improves page rendering. The graphical user interface was also updated to make the browser look more „eye-candy“.

A new social network element for feature-phones and Windows Mobile smartphones has been introduced which enables users to quickly access their Facebook and Twitter accounts.

Another interesting improvement allows users to see a thumbnail when they upload. Thanks to the Traffic Check tool, users will be able to monitor their traffic consumption, in order to match their browsing with their data plans.

The browser's search box has also been optimized by rearranging the search engine options at the top to save space for low resolution handsets.

Since WLAN is used more and more widely, the devs have decided to introduce a WLAN Access Automatic Switch which can be used to switch the APN when the location is changed.

Other new features available include Theme Automatic Installation after Download and Clear Fonts, which makes the default fonts smaller to make a better screen adaptation.

UC Browser 7.6 works on all Java compatible handsets and is available as a free download from Softpedia.
