There's that good news you were waiting for. The new U2 album is definitely going to be released sometime this year. The group had a chat with Rolling Stone and confirmed that the new album they have been working on is going to be released in 2014, sometime later this year.

Though it was speculated that the album was getting pushed back to a later date in 2015, the band was keen to stress that they will be coming out with new material this year. “We've always said an album is expected this year,” they warned.

However, they still haven't provided a definite release date for the album, nor have they given it a title, but it's going to be the first material to come out since 2009's “No Line on the Horizon.”

The only hints from this upcoming album have been the song “Invisible,” which was premiered during the Super Bowl earlier this year. When it was released, the band mentioned that “this is just a sort of a sneak preview - to remind people we exist.” After its release, the song was made available for free on iTunes for a limited time.

Fans might also remember that as part of their promotional efforts, the band played the song live from the top of Rockefeller Center, on the debut of the new Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon as host.
