U.S. Cellular has just added the Samsung Profile (SCH-r580) to its catalog. The entry-level handset can be purchased for $39.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate and with a two-year contract. The phone can also be bought with a prepaid plan for $69.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate.
The Profile SCH-r580 is an affordable handset that targets customers in need of a simple and comfortable method of communication. Thanks to its full slide-out QWERTY keyboard and multiple messaging options, users will have an easy time texting.
Samsung Profile comes with a 2.4-inch QVGA display with 262k colors support and 240x320 pixels resolution.
The phone measures 116.5 x 53.5 x 15mm and weighs 105g (battery included). It embeds 100 MB internal memory, as well as microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 16GB).
The slider supports CDMA/EVDO networks and is equipped with a 2.0-megapixel camera with video recording capabilities.
Other highlights of the device include: Stereo
Bluetooth 2.0, One-Touch Speakerphone, MP3 Player, Video Player (supports MP4 format), Synchronous GPS and easy edge apps.

The manufacturer rates the Li-Ion 1140 mAh battery for up to 12.5 days of standby time or up to 6 hours of talk time. Obviously, these numbers may vary depending on user settings, feature use and network configurations.
The same phone is also offered via Sprint as Samsung Restore and via MetroPCS as Samsung Messager III.
While Sprint is retailing the device for $49.99 with a new 2-year contract, after a $50 mail-in rebate, MetroPCS is selling its Profile for $49.00 with an Unlimited Plan.
