In recent years, Tyra Banks has been very vocal about her changing figure and how she no longer feels the need to look a certain way, now that she quit modeling. As it happens, the media doesn’t seem to think the same way, if one is to judge by the way they’re covering Tyra’s recent weight gain.

The television star is now on vacation with her boyfriend and, as every other woman on a summer vacation, she’s also working on her tan – which means plenty of paparazzi shots in her swimsuit.

As the Daily Mail sees it, Tyra may have gained a bit too much weight recently, judging by her fuller figure.

“Model turned TV host Tyra Banks appears to have relaxed her attitude when it comes to keeping in camera-ready shape as she showed off a much fuller figure yesterday,” the British tab writes.

“The 37-year-old America’s Next Top Model host, who once measured 35-23-35, proudly displayed her voluptuous curves in a bright purple two-piece as she lounged poolside in Mexico with her long-term boyfriend John Utendahl,” the Mail adds.

It also draws a comparison to Tyra’s thin frame from back in her modeling days (even though she repeatedly said such parallels are useless because she’s no longer a model) and says that she could hardly contain herself in the tiny two-piece.

In this, the Mail seems to stand almost alone: several other voices in the blogosphere are saying that “girl looks damn good” and that she seems proud of her curves, which is precisely what she should be.

They also underline how pointless it is to hold the image of 37-year-old Tyra against that of a 20-something Tyra who, to cap it all off, was also among the highest ranking supermodels in the world.

Tyra is yet to address the latest so-called controversy around her fuller figure. If she does that at all, it will probably happen when she gets back from vacation – and haters can expect the same message from her as they got a few years ago, letting them know they can kiss her you-know-where.
