Users who type "Tublr.com" may find themselves on a shady website

Internet users who want to access Tumblr.com and mistakenly write Tublr.com are taken to a site that greets them with a message that reads “Congratulations Youtube user.”

GFI experts inform that the shady site doesn’t serve malware, instead it promises visitors fabulous prizes such as iPads, and hundreds of dollars in gift cards in return for the completion of a survey.

As in most cases, no one wins anything, except for the crooks that operate the scam. They earn a certain amount of money each time someone completes the poll.

Security solutions providers are working on blocking the sites set up by typosquatters, but the best thing for everyone would be if the company, in this case Tumblr, purchased all the domains that resemble its name to avoid any unfortunate situations.

Until that happens, internauts are advised to be careful when typing the name of a site.
